A landmark reimagined
The library still has stories to tell.
Built with an $11,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation, the building opened as Carmel’s public library in 1914. It served generations of readers before beginning a new chapter as Woodys in May 1998.

Richelle & Kevin Rider
Woodys is owned by husband-and-wife team “Chef” Richelle and Kevin “Woody” Rider — the restaurant takes its name from Kevin’s nickname. They met at a wine distributor when two separate meetings overlapped, married in 2005, and have been feeding Carmel together ever since.
Kevin oversees daily operations and the front of house; Richelle handles menu development, the kitchen, wine and décor.
